Halloween in August!

Ok so I'm a little early but I'm procrastinating... School starts Tuesday and I need to plan but I can't wrap my head around starting school already!!
Instead I went Pinterest browsing and saw a picture of a googley eyes frame and since these were materials I already had in my craft room, I couldn't help but start this project!
I took a wooden frame I had from michaels (got it on sale for $1), painted it black and started glueing the eyes on. Not that it's the hard part, but it's tedious and annoying! I found green ribbon and cut out the boo from cricut craft room on white paper and sprayed it with Heidi swapp Georgia peach spray to give it a glimmer! I adheared it all together and voila! Not sure if I want to stamp the middle or put a pic but we shall see!

Cricut Craft room

I have recently noticed (don't judge me!) that circuit craft room is the most amazing thing ever! How did I use the circuit without it? Oh thats right, my circuit was collecting dust because it was so difficult for me to be creative!

Anyway in an effort to make items for every season, I focused on Halloween today and made a pillow box and some cards!  All are using regular card stock that I had laying around and the circuit craft room.
This pillow box was made with the stamp of the month "What a hoot" stamp set from Close to my Heart and the art booking circuit cartridge.  The pillow box itself I think was from Life's a party cartridge but you can get it from a lot of them.

This card was made solely from the Artbooking cartridge.  The web is an overlay that i just used as the background!

This card was attempted by using the negative space from the previous card  but on the card it looks more like a skeleton which is halloweeney too! The blue square was just Outdoor Denim ink rubbed on white card stock.  I am really loving this technique!
Who gives out halloween cards? I am curious!

Place cards for Fall

The other day, I was playing around with my cricut craft room and noticed that I can make my own place cards! I started by just cutting a rectangle and folding it over and using my new "What a hoot" stamp set from Close to my heart! It is only $5 this month with any qualifying purchase!
Anyway some cards, I tried colouring them in while some others I left stamped in chocolate ink.
While simple, they will work well for Thanksgiving I think! They are on my etsy store which is linked on the side if you like them.

Then because I wanted to do something with the owl, I made a Halloween card which I don't mind but I think I can tweak it to make it look cuter.  I used outdoor denim ink from ctmh and mustard distress ink for the background, then coloured in the owl and added some navy card stock for the tree branch.

Felt Pumpkin

With halloween coming up and me not having any decorations, I decided to make this pumpkin which I saw on another blog: Clean and Scentsible.

I just loved how it turned out and the fact that I have made 2 recent crafts which did not become epic pinstrosities!

 What you need is:

  • a syrofoam ball (mine is 5 inches large)
  • 7-8 Felt sheets (8 1/2 by 11)
  • a 3 inch circle stencil (I cut one from my cricut)
  • scissors
  • straight pins
  • For the leaf, I used my circle but you could use any material
  • a branch to put in the top to make it look like the steam (optional)

You fold the circles in half and then half again and start pinning them to the ball.  You can choose how much/little you want to fill them up.  Its soo quick and easy!

I have yet to add the stem but once at school tomorrow, I will ask the kids to find me a branch!

Hope you like it!

Boxing day!

So I totally went overboard this boxing day considering I did not want to go and become tempted with evil consumerism, but I was coaxed into it by my cousin and so I spent money.

My new favourite store, Stamping Bella had a 40% off sale and so I went crazy!

Here are some examples of what Ive been able to make with my new toys!

P.S. I start course 2 of my cake decorating sessions this week so im super excited to come up with cakes soon as well! Keep tuned!
OK this one not so much in the right season but I like it and didnt send it out this year so I get to post it! Stickers were from the Sandylion Sticker warehouse in Markham - a very dangerous place to go! You will leave with tons of stickers, soo many that you may not have room for them all! (ok maybe thats just me....)
I made this card at a make n take at Michaels recently but didnt like how it turned out so I changed it.. below is my new idea!

I like this one much better!
This adorable stamp was one of many boxing day purchases. I have a better colouring job on another card but it isnt finished yet so you will just have to wait!

This card was done with the cuttlebug embossing folders and cutting templates. I quite like how it turned out!
